What material is best for an area rug?
I want to buy an area rug for my living room. I’ve found some good deals online, but it always gives a material option. Usually cotton, silk, synthetics, polyester, wool, etc.
I want one that’s really soft and plush, that would be comfortable to sit on on the floor. Does anyone know more about this than me? What kind should I order?

Try to stay with synthetic fibers – they wear longer and are more stain resistant than natural. Silks and cottons are the weakest fibers to use on a rug. Olefin is one of the strongest synthetics on the market for rugs – find something with that, mixed with chenilles and you will have a very soft, plush rug.
A Fabric Crocheted Rag Rug makes a great area rug. It is soft, plush, comfortable and it is easy to wash. I included a website that instructs how to make one. If you don’t have the patience to make one, contact the owner of the website. She may be able to hook you up with someone who can make a fabric rag area rug for you.
