What can be used to keep a rug with worn out rubber backing, from slipping on a bare kitchen floor?
To keep the rug in place so it won’t slip so much, besides using any kind of glue. A temporary situation which the rug could be moved at a different time.

HD and other warehouse stores sell a light-weight under-carpet pad intended for this purpose. It is very grippy rubber but doesn’t offer a softer step as most carpet padding does. I use it under a couple of small rugs and they don’t move unles I want them to.
The same material people line there kitchen cabinets with can also be used to keep rugs and furniture from sliding on hard floors. Just cut it to size. You can find it at Wal-Mart in a roll in the kitchen organization area of the store. That’s what I use to line my cabinets and for my rugs and furniture.
