Can I dye a sheep skin rug? And if so what’s the best dye to use?

I want to buy some of those cheap sheep skin rugs at IKEA, but they are white and will get dirty. I would like to dye them a dark color – has anyone ever dyed a sheep skin rug and what kind of dyes work best on sheep skin?

I have 2 fluffy white sheep skin rugs from Ikea. They could use a clean, but I don’t want to wreck them. Any suggestions?
