I am considering buying a new Shag Rug for my livingroom… How durable are they? Are they worth the trouble of cleaning them? Any suggestions for a good company to buy them from?

I was thinking of putting a spaghetti shag rug (ivory or silver) on top of my white wool carpet in the living room and putting a modern coffee table on top of it. Do shag rugs on carpets look ridiculous and are they only meant to be used on hardwood floors?

I have a shag rug that is made of wool with a rubber slip pad underneath. If its not made of wool than its made of some synthetic material similar to wool. How do I clean these rugs. The tags have been cut off. I usually shake them outside and vacuum with the dustbuster. But they need to be washed.
