How should I clean an area rug on a hardwood floor?

We have a very large area rug that is made from a carpet remnant. It is on our hardwood floor. It desperately needs to be cleaned and rather than hiring someone to do it, I was wondering if we could do it ourselves. I’m assuming that steaming it while it’s on the hardwood is a bad idea. We live in MN and it is getting pretty cold outside, so that is not an option. What would a professional cleaner do?

I have a large living room rug i didn’t pay alot of money for sometimes the corners raise up causing someone to trip. How can I solve that problem? I am putting that rug into my kitchen on my hardwood floor and I have tried velcro doesn’t work.

I have a thin, lightweight, 3×5 rug in my room. The floor is hardwood floor (but unwaxed). It is kind of like an “area-filler”, so my room doesn’t look so empty, therefore I don’t want to put anything on top of it to anchor it down. Simply walking over it causes it to slip & slide and move around. What can I do to hold it in place? Do they sell anything for things like this?

What colors would look good with burgundy rugs or carpet for walls?

I want to paint my walls a different color other than white, the color it is now. i have a hardwood floor right now, but have huge rugs that are burgundy and some are burgundy and the center is a tan color. my kids are 7 & 8 yr olds so i dont wont carpet just yet. but when i do i want a burgundy color. i have my living room thene is magnolias. the back ground color of the pictures are a tanish color. the color i think is the closest to matching is a pecan twist. i found the color swatch at wal-mart. anyway someone help please. and also what color couches would look good with all these colors? because i want to change it also. right now i have a huge blue sectional. i want just a regular couch and chair what colors would look good. thanks in advance!!
