How to clean my rug/carpet?

How do I attach a rug to any rug?

June 28, 2010 by · 1 Comment

We purchased cheap rugs and they don’t like to lay flat. We are trying to brighten up the apartment wall-to-wall carpeting using these rugs. The wall-to-wall carpet is on top of concrete, so stapling and nailing are out of the question. Its really annoying to have the carpets bucking and wrinkling. Any suggestions for how to get them to lay flat? (we cover them with as much furniture as possible to weigh them down but still have problems)

Thanks!

Does anyone knows what is the name of the purple rug cleaning solution that they usually sell at flea markets?

Does shag area rug over a white carpet in the living room is pleasant to look at?

June 12, 2010 by · 1 Comment

I was thinking of putting a spaghetti shag rug (ivory or silver) on top of my white wool carpet in the living room and putting a modern coffee table on top of it. Do shag rugs on carpets look ridiculous and are they only meant to be used on hardwood floors?

Thanks!

Can area rugs be cut to size.?

I have four 5×7 remnant area rugs that I plan to use in one of my rooms and I’m curious if I cut off the binding on two sides and butt up the carpets next to each other if the fibers will hold together. I intend to use double stick tape to hold the rugs together. Alternatively I may also have to cut off about half a foot length wise from each carpet to get it to fit.

How do you keep a rug (or runner) to stay in place when it's placed on top of carpet?

May 13, 2010 by · 2 Comments

The rug (runner) I place on high traffic areas slides with the traffic and must be re-adjusted several times throughout the day.

I’ve tried that sticky stuff you place between the rug and the FLOOR but that doesn’t seem to work on carpets.

I would be great if the rug (or runner) stayed in place or even if it didn’t move as much. Sometimes I find myself readjusting the run (runner) upwards to 6 times a day…for each rug (runner) I have.

do u use the part with bristles in a vacuum cleaner for the carpets and rugs or the floor?

Looking for a Large Rug?

December 28, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

modern-style-logo-imgLarge rugs are becoming quite ‘the thing’ in home decor as more often than not, modern apartments feature wooden floors, rather than carpets.
A large area such as a living-room or a large open-plan space is the perfect place to situate a large rug (or an extra large rug, as the case may be).

There’s nothing quite as effective when it comes to changing the feel and atmosphere in a large room as a large colourful rug. Moreover, you have complete control of the outcome depending on your choice of large rug.

At Modern Stye Rugs we stock a large variety of quality large rugs, including:

  • colourful large rugs
  • large wool rugs
  • large pattern rugs
  • large area rugs

To help you search and find the perfect large rug for you, here are some quick tips:

Terminology can be confusing at first. Large rugs are also called:

The sizes specified are generally what classifies a rug as a large rug. Larger sized rugs may be obtained for certain models and ranges (please enquire on 0845 5190 354 and we’ll be happy to assist you).

Many of our great quality rugs are available in larger sizes, so if you find a rug you like, but are unsure of the dimensions, let us know and we will help you with your search!

Area Rugs Always Bunching Up. Any Advice?

December 8, 2009 by · 1 Comment

I have carpets that I have laid area rugs on top of and they are contantly bunching up with all the foot traffic. I priced the area rug stays for carpet and they wanted an arm and a leg for a large piece of plastic. I would like to know if anyone else has some tips on how you keep your area rugs in place or a store where you can purchase these rug stays for relatively inexpensive. (The ones I looked at were almost 50$ a piece for a 5×8′ rug)
I have already checked Wal Mart in my area and they only have the ones to keep area rugs on hard surface floors, I tried those and they dont work worth a darn on carpet.
