Round rug underneath a glass table – need opinions!?

I have a 4’6″ diameter glass kitchen table. I think a round rug underneath the table will give my beige kitchen a nice touch of color. I’ve been told I’ll need and 8′ diameter rug so that the chairs will fit, but I just done want it that big. I want to accent – not cover that much.

Has anyone seen a smaller rug, like 4′ or 6′ under a table that still had chairs? Am I nuts to think this is going to work?

Thanks!

I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. The only problem is that it might drive you mad when you push the chairs under the table, and the chair legs keep rucking the rug up, as they’ll invariably scrunch underneath it rather than just gliding over the top. Maybe a larger rug (which would accommodate the chairs as well) would be better after all.
