Possible for layperson to stitch/join two berber area rugs together?

I would like to combine two berber area rugs together without the current joint showing. I would like to unravel a joint from each carpet and somehow combine the two together without the joint showing or the carpet unraveling. Is this possible for a layperson to do?

For a layperson I strongly advise against trying it. You as a lay person may be able to use a seaming tape to bring them together, but not stitch them, this is an old art form that few carpet guys do anymore. Your local carpet stores will have a person or a service that can seam 2 rugs together. By the time and trouble to buy seaming tape and renting a special iron to do this you can have it done as cheap by a pro…GL
