Is it possible to put a small rug over carpet without it curling up?

I want to put a 10×4 rug in my hallway but I remember from previous experiences they usually curl up on the ends. What’s a good solution to prevent that?
Yowsa: So this rug pad is better than just getting the rug tape?

You can also find these sticky pads at some local stores. Look at any of these if you are in an area that has them. Linens & Things; Bed, Bath & Beyond; World Market; plus carpet stores. I’ve seen these pads in all of these places.

I watched Haley’s Hints on PBS and he had a great idea.
Take a self adhesive floor tile you can purchase at any home store. Cut off a corner, peel off the backing and stick it to the corners of the area rug. This will keep them from curling up.
