I trip over area rugs I put on top of my old carpet?

I bought large area rugs from Ikea. they are very beautiful, but when I walk I trip over them. Is there a glue that I use to tape them to the carpet?
or, can I nail them to the ground? Thanks

    pick up you’re feet when you walk or stop using area rugs.
