How to get off the carpet /mounting tape because it stock on the carpet and on my rug?

It’s stuck to the carpet – it’s similar to adhesive, or even gum? Any ideas how I can save the carpet (I’m renting so I need help!!!)

    You might try using a liquid fabric softener. Sounds crazy but if it will remove hardened latex paint it may remove the adhesive without damaging your carpet. You can also do this throughout your home to reduce static electricity in the winter time. There is also a product called L.A.s Awesome I purchase it at Dollar General Stores in OK, it removes all kinds of stuff.
