How do you piece 2 area rugs together?

I have 2 area rugs that are 5×7, that I’d like to piece together to make one large 10×7 rug. Since the edges are finished, I was hoping I could cut the edges of one of the 5″ sides on both rugs, and place them side by side- so you could not tell where the seam was. How would I go about putting these together so the edges don’t frey?

2 ways to do this and usually not a DIY job . But you can take it to a carpet place and have it done. One way is to seam it together just as you do carpet. But this requires a special hot iron. You can rent this but by the time you rent a seaming iron, you can pay to have it done. The other way is to sew it together. This is a special skill few installers do any more.
