How do you know if the rug is washable?
Okay, I have heard that you can’t wash some rugs in the wash because the backing will come off of them. But, how do you know which ones you can and can’t wash if there is no tag on the rug with washing instructions?

The only rug you can’t wash is wool and few people have them anymore because they are so expensive. If your rug has rubber backing, wash in cold water only and line dry. Anything warmer with the water and especially the heat of the dryer will cause the rubber backing to become brittle and flake off.
