How do you keep a rug (or runner) to stay in place when it's placed on top of carpet?

The rug (runner) I place on high traffic areas slides with the traffic and must be re-adjusted several times throughout the day.

I’ve tried that sticky stuff you place between the rug and the FLOOR but that doesn’t seem to work on carpets.

I would be great if the rug (or runner) stayed in place or even if it didn’t move as much. Sometimes I find myself readjusting the run (runner) upwards to 6 times a day…for each rug (runner) I have.

Ever been to a modular home show center, and seen the plastic runners all over, to protect the carpet? Well, they have teeth on the back of them. Put one of those on the lower carpet, then put a rubberized carpet pad on that, then put the runner on top. Should stay.

Go to a flooring store and get the rubber non skid runner that is heavier duty. There are good quality ones. The one I have is pretty heavy and sturdy.
