Nicole and Jenny are absolutely right. There are special "mats" or pads to make this work.. And like Jenny said get one or cut one just an inch or 2 less than the rug size.. These mats/pads will have a ‘tacky" feel , but they leave no residue and work great. Make sure you get the type for rug over a soft surface. These are also washable when the ‘tackiness" gets dirty. You ll know when its time to wash them because they start to let the rugs walk again .. Purchase at any flooring store or big box store.. GL
