How do I get the wrinkles on a new 100% heat-set emerlen pile rug (5′ X 8′) w/pad is on top of carpet?
We purchased the recommended pad for use on carpeted areas. The problem is that the wrinkles are pronounced/high. This diminishes the attractiveness and safety of the new rug.
The rug was tightly rolled for shipping. It was laid across a bed for 4-5 days allowing the edges to hang hoping to straighten and smooth out these wrinkles.
Now that we have actually placed it on the carpeted area it is disappointing that the wrinkles remain.
I’ve contacted the vendor (Overstock.COM) and they have no advise or help thus far. Any ideas?

De wrinkling a rug,
You can try to back roll against the wrinkle. You need to leave it rolled up for a few days.
You can try to steam it out, but it could take awhile.
The oriental rug cleaners have a method of stretching a rug to get the wrinkles out, you might contact a local cleaner and ask about this service.
You maybe should return the rug for another, tell them it is defective.
