How can I soften a llama rug after washing?
I have a llama rug that had some stains on it. I washed it and the leather hide became very hard and crumpled. Is there any way that I can soften the hide?

i think a cap full of conditioner (hair) in the rinse cycle would have done the trick. I washed a ‘sheep’s skin’ once and that is what i was advised to do and it came out fine (and soft)
I once softened an old dried up and hard leather baseball glove for my husband using mineral oil. I just rubbed it in. It took quite a bit of work but the glove turned out good as new.
You might try this just on one corner of the hide.
