It’s a long story, but my grandmothers managed to wee on the rug in the bedroom, would a steam cleaner sanitize & get rid of the smell? I also wanna get clean the rug & upholstery in the living room which has gone a bit grey when it should be cream…should I get a steam cleaner? Or what else can you suggest???

It should get rid of these stains but, maybe not. You’ll have to try it. Sometimes you can scrub the area by hand first, then use the cleaner. Use "dawn" dish soap with the anti-bacterial cleaner in it.
The steam cleaner will work fine on all you have mentioned you need it for. the trick is the chemical you use in it! For the "accident" on the bathroom floor, use a disenfectant/deodorizer such as PineSol in the water of the steamer. The carpets and furniture in the rest of your house…you can use 1cup of bleach in the water with out damaging your furniture. Oxy Clean and Lavender Pine Sol is what I have my maintenance man use on the furniture, bedding and carpets in the hotel I manage in theHousekeeping Dept. I have had alot of compliments on the nice smell and the brightness of the furniture. Good Luck!
