Do wall to wall shag rugs easy to clean, or will they clog my vacuum?

I don’t know about wall-to-wall but I had a large shag area rug that was a nightmare! Not only did it clog up the vacuum, it was almost entirely impossible to get it really clean because it caught dirt and wouldn’t let go. It wasn’t a cheap rug, it was a Mahdavis high end brand but I couldn’t wait to get rid of it!
