Do most people who have wood floors keep runners in the hall?

I just got wood floors and was wondering if i should buy runners to go in the hall. my other wood floors at my old house rubbed off in places. they were wood laminate floors. the locking kind

    I would use the runners if you have a high trafficed area but try to get them shorter than the width of the hall so that you can still enjoy the look of the hardwood.
