does anyone remember the plastic woven rugs fron the 60s, often in very bright colours. I remenber my mum had two in her kitchen, they were like plastic piping, very warm underfoot and cleaned bu shaking or hosing. wish i had one , kitchen floor is frozen, does anyone know what title they go under and where i might be able to purchase one. thanks

This rug has a very common problem. The adhesives used to bond this rug together are gassing off.
This rug is a health hazard and should be returned to the store it was purchased at for a full refund.

You might get away with a small shag area rug. Some designers do use them as accents.

That said, they are a nuisance to take care of. Dirt can be hard to remove and vacuums can get the rollers caught.

A nice oriental pattern rug has a more sophisticated look, but you should always go with what works for you. And invest in a wool rug.

They’re still pretty current, especially with a polished concrete floor – the contrast in texture would be excellent. There are twisted shags that are pretty cool. You may be good with this trend staying around at least another couple of years.

Get a balloon, blow it up, rub it on your hair or the carpet to create static cling, and then hoover the balloon over the carpet. The styrofoam beads *should* be attracted by the static and should stick to the balloon. This could take a while so getting a couple of balloons going would be a good idea. Good luck!

I have gotten them all over after unpacking boxes. I take a long–18"–piece of magic mending tape and skim it across the area the beads have fallen. Static makes them leap on the tape where they stick. It may take a number of passes with strips of tape. Hope this works. Regular tapes don’t seem to work as well.
