Can I make my own zebra pattern rug?
I want to have one of those safari style living room rugs in the shape of a zebra hide, but obviously, I don’t want it to be a real zebra hide.
And I don’t want to buy one of those cow hides that have been printed on, because they are expensive as hell.
Is there some type of affordable fabric out there that looks like artificial cow hide?
And what could I use to paint the zebra stripes onto that? Black ink maybe?

Buy some faux suede, and use black permanent fabric pens to make the stripes. It may be difficult to find white suede, so you could get black, and use a white marker instead.
Not from experience, but I would tape off a design of the pattern and use a sponge and dye. I did my walls once that way. I used electrical tape and made my design and then I went down and bought wood strips and painted them black and cut them just like my design and as I took the tape down I put the wood up. I even went around my mirrors so that it looked like a frame.
